Hi I am Valerie !

I’m the founder of The Mindful Mover — and for more than 35 years, I’ve been supporting people in reconnecting with their bodies, cultivating resilience, and finding new ways of moving through life with ease.

My own journey has taught me that healing isn’t about pushing harder or doing more — it’s about listening deeply, honoring your body’s wisdom, and creating the conditions where change feels safe and possible.

My Background and Training

I bring a unique blend of somatic practices, trauma-informed approaches, and sound therapy to my work. I am a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider and a trained sound therapist, and I have decades of experience in body-based modalities.

Over the years, I’ve worked with people navigating anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, chronic health conditions, and life transitions. What I’ve learned is that every nervous system is different — and each person deserves a pathway that honors their unique pace.

My Approach

With over 35 years of experience in holistic health and somatic therapy, my work integrates body-based wisdom, sound therapy, and nervous system support into one cohesive process. Healing, for me, is never about doing more or forcing change — it’s about creating the conditions where your body and mind can move toward balance at their own safe pace.

I specialize in integrative approaches to postural alignment, chronic pain reduction, and nervous system regulation. My background as a movement educator, dance therapist, and practitioner of Pilates and yoga is complemented by advanced training in neuromuscular re-patterning, imagery, therapeutic touch, and sensory awareness.

Alongside hands-on somatic work, I am also a certified Sound Therapist and trained provider of the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) — a Polyvagal-informed listening intervention designed to support emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and autonomic nervous system balance.

In addition, I offer intuitive mentoring through my Create the Life You Love framework, guiding clients through life transitions, personal growth, and embodied transformation.

What ties all of this together is an evidence-informed, client-centered approach that blends movement, sound, and mindful awareness with emotional insight. At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that less is more — by moving gently, listening deeply, and integrating practices into daily life, I empower individuals to become active participants in their healing and long-term well-being.

A bit about me…

Outside of my practice, I find grounding and inspiration in walking in nature, exploring mindful movement, and spending time with my family. These simple joys keep me connected to the same values I bring into my work: presence, curiosity, and compassion.

If you’d like to learn more about working together, I’d love to connect with you.
